CANCELLED Rewind to the 1980s - A Capella Super-Group The Magnets head to the Fairfield Halls

Updated: Mar 10, 2023

I loved the 80s. I turned 18 in 1980, and headed off to university the following year, where my musical tastes were changed forever. I'd previously been a bit of a pop and soul girl, but once I hit university I was exposed to The Cure, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Bauhaus, The Fall, The Smiths, as well as the new pop groups - the Thompson Twins (when there were 7 of them), Erasure, Soft Cell, Human League, Haircut 100, and ABC. And many more.

We've been invited to see the Magnets in our local theatre on Friday 17th March, and you could be joining us!

Who are the Magnets? The Magnets are the UKs No.1 A Cappella super-group featuring the hottest vocal and beatboxing talent on the international a cappella scene. They combine amazing beatboxing with glorious harmonies.

They are 4 albums into their career. They've sold out the London O2 arena a record breaking 7 times. They have performed alongside many music legends including Blondie, Bryan Adams, Tom Jones, The Black Eyed Peas, Gregory Porter, Rick Astley and The Kaiser Chiefs amongst others.

What can we expect to hear? The classic hits of my favourite decade; songs from Prince, Huey Lewis & The News, Europe, Jocelyn Brown and many, many more in their own unique style. Step back in time to experience The Final Countdown, The Power Of Love, Ain't Nobody, Purple Rain and so many more 80s classics in this unique show.

And you have the chance to win 2 tickets by entering our competition, prize provided by the Fairfield Halls.

When: Friday 17th March 2023 at 7.30 p.m.

Where: Fairfield Halls, Park Lane, Croydon,

Tickets cost from £28.75 and are available from www.tickets.fairfield.co.uk or by calling the Box Office on 0300 500 0595.
