Jam Delish | Review

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (five stars)

Jam Delish is an independent family-owned Caribbean vegan restaurant and cocktail bar in Angel, Islington.

My friend and I went to this restaurant to try something new. Although I have enjoyed Caribbean cuisine many times before, I’ve never come across a vegan interpretation.

The restaurant itself is very nice and comfortable, with some outdoor seating for summer days. Upon entering the restaurant, you'll feel a warm, welcoming atmosphere combined with sophistication and style. The service is just as great and incredibly warm, friendly, and inviting. The restaurant staff and owners know exactly what they are doing and are seasoned professionals, which was all the reassurance I needed for a new food experience.

Jam Delish offers a truly unforgettable dining experience, especially for those seeking the authentic flavours of Caribbean cuisine. Their vegan fried “chicken” is stunning, perfectly crispy and served with flavourful garlic mashed potatoes, stew peas, and an indulgent Jamaican gravy that brings the dish to life. The BBQ jerk plantain fries are another highlight, blending the sweetness of ripe plantains with a smoky BBQ jerk sauce and garnished with pomegranate and spring onions for a unique touch. A perfect side to the main dish that I devoured.

For dessert, don’t bypass the Chocolate Pimento Festivals, a delightful twist on traditional Jamaican dumplings served with a rich chocolate pimento sauce and a Guinness punch reduction—a perfect ending to any meal (if you still have the room). To pair with these bold, beautifully presented dishes, the sorrel margarita is a standout cocktail. Its refreshing tartness from the sorrel complements the meal's richness, making it a perfect accompaniment. Once you taste one, you’ll end up indulging in another, for sure.

I would highly recommend a visit to this restaurant in the vibrant Angel, Islington.

For a full dining experience with drinks and dessert, expect to spend around £50 to £60 per person, and this is well worth it.
