We managed to pack in 15 shows, including two late nights at best of the Fests and a 2 hour Massaoke!

We have fully reviewed our favourite recommended shows but would also like to give a few honourable mentions.

Hasan Al-Habib – Stuck in the Middle East with you.

Hasan is an extremely funny and instantly likable Muslim comedian. His new show is about his family, growing up as a child of divorce, and some of his truly jaw dropping experiences therein. He has an original take on his religion. In this current climate, he is not afraid to confront sensitive topics, making us laugh and reflect at the same time.

Pleasance Courtyard, until 30 Aug (not 18), 5.30pm

Truthmachine

People wearing headphones work at laptops around long tables in a blue-lit industrial hall with brick arches.

If you want something completely different and have 30 minutes to spare, try Truthmachine a unique immersive high-tec experience where one audience member is strapped up to a lie detector and the rest of the audience have to judge if they are lying or not. Only twelve people take part in each show; seated with your own headphones, console and microphone you can decide how much you want to partake. You will question everything. Do you trust your instincts or the machine? How well do you know yourself and how much are you willing to share? Are any of the audience stooges? Is this set up? Expect the unexpected.

Truthmachine is playing at various times (30 mins) at C ARTS until August 30th. For more information, or to buy tickets, visit the EdFringe website

Massaoke. – Greatest hits

Massaoke styles themselves as “the world's biggest live band singalong party” and I have to agree with them. Only at the Fringe for two nights, the packed-out Edinburgh Assembly Hall became a huge singalong party from midnight 'til the early hours. Dressed in spandex and glitter with pumping visuals, smoke and flames, these multi-talented musicians raced through decades of classic rock singalongs. With the words clearly projected behind them, they had everyone on their feet roaring at the top of their lungs from the first to last. We absolutely loved it and look forward to their Christmas specials around the country this winter.
