An original fun and breezy hour of chaos and irreverence you won't see anywhere else
It's easy to see why Ted Hill was granted Ant and Decs Golden Buzzer on Britain's Got Talent (BGT) recently. He is likable, anarchic, funny with a weird take on the world that is refreshing and yet accessible for all.
Ted does not rest on these laurels; He points out he came 7th in BGT and was beaten by a dog. He has crafted a packed all-new multimedia show. Powerpoindexter (a strange name that does not really work, but don't let that get in the way of going!) is all about him accepting and learning about his autistic superpower, seeking feedback if he is pushing the comedic envelope too far and becoming “too weird”.
We, the audience, become his focus group holding up signs with either “Too Weird” or “Not Weird Enough” while Ted tests out more imaginative and creative ideas. These include amongst many other mink v water rats, puppets and Geoguesser (which I love!) He also tries out different styles of comedy such as character, roasts, Christian and standup all in his unique slant.
There are so many hilarious and original ideas here and imaginative use of PowerPoint and other tec; the small talk machine was excellent!
His comedy is a little bit more adult than BGT but still very accessible for most people and children. There are some hilarious moments but of course not everything hits the spot and in the show we saw there were small technical issues. When this happens, Ted is insightful and well prepared with his own fast paced inner monologue, often making the whole thing even funnier.
He has a chaotic and self-confessed autistic approach to his comedy, which is refreshing and underplays the amount of preparation this must have taken.
A recommended early evening show (6pm start), well worth checking out.
