⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Already Perfect musical at the King’s Head Theatre is one of those intimate London theatre experiences that quietly disarms you. Thoughtful, funny and emotionally generous, this musical takes big themes — faith, identity, family expectation — and places them right in front of you, without ever feeling preachy or overwhelming.

Set in a dressing room following a faltering performance, Already Perfect follows Levi as he comes face to face with his younger self. It’s a story about the choices we make in order to survive, and whether those same choices prevent us from becoming whole. This could have been hard going, but the show is consistently lightened by humour — most memorably when Bibles drop from the sky on cue, sending the audience into laughter and perfectly skewering the seriousness of the moment.
The background of Christianity in Tennessee shapes every corner of the narrative. Levi’s experience of six years of conversion therapy — undertaken in an attempt to be what others expected — is handled with restraint and honesty. The show never sensationalises the damage, instead allowing the emotional weight to land through quiet moments and reflection. Particularly affecting is the realisation that being your true self can feel like a disappointment: to a grandfather, a father, a mother.

Every performance is superb. Levi Kreis is utterly compelling, moving effortlessly between self-deprecating humour, anger and vulnerability. Killian Thomas Lefevre brings charisma and fragility to Levi’s younger self, capturing both the bravado and fear of someone trying desperately to belong. Yiftach ‘Iffy’ Mizrahi as Ben provides warmth, grounding and excellent comic timing, while shifting seamlessly between multiple roles.
Vocally, this production is a standout. The voices of the performers work incredibly well together, blending gospel influences with musical theatre storytelling. Harmonies lift the material, giving emotional moments space to breathe and resonate in the intimate setting of the King’s Head.
Director Dave Solomon uses the venue beautifully, allowing the audience to feel like silent witnesses rather than spectators. The result is a musical that feels personal without being insular — honest, playful and deeply human.
By the final moments, Already Perfect feels less like a show and more like a shared moment of recognition. It’s uplifting without being neat, and moving without ever asking for sympathy.
A five-star production that proves small-scale musical theatre in London can still pack a profound emotional punch.
