Top value Panto Camp Fun
Worth jumping out the closet to see!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️+ 1/2

A riotous night of anarchic queer comedy that will delight almost everyone!
Setting the scene with a well written post war musical number, two young men fall in love and are then sent away from the London bombing to Mrs. Douches country boarding house for bad butch boys.
What follows must contain every double entendre and innuendo in the known universe! The sheer enthusiastic force of jokes and quips will soon have you on board laughing and smiling throughout.
Loosely following the original narrative path of CS Lewis, The Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe, this romp twists everything we know into a fun filthy camp romp, cleverly scripted and pulls everything off successfully!
In The Liar, the Bitch and the Wardrobe Mr Tumnus becomes Mr Topless and Aslan the lion becomes Arselan the lion, The Beaver..is a hungry lesbian beaver, the white witch becomes the tight Bitch, and Father Christmas of course likes to be called Daddy!
The cast of four are all talented high energy actors who throw everything into their many roles. Katie Ball, Tom Duern, Joe Pieri and James Georgia bounce off each other fantastically as they sing, dance, adlib, with great comedic timing and a perfect sense of self awareness and fun.
The musical set pieces are standout! Taking musical classics from Liza Minnelli, the Village People to Chapell Roan and Lady Gaga the words are creatively rewritten in often very funny manner. For example, the very current “Defying Gravity” becomes “accepting my depravity” and “widening my cavity"! It all works very well, clever, silly, and appropriately rude. There is also a wonderful reworking of YMCA to “Why am I gay” that had everyone stomping and clapping along.
This was clearly written for the gay male audience with plenty of in jokes and nods that sometimes went over my hetro head!
Surprisingly at the core of all this anarchic romp is a touching love story between two people which allows for a suitably sweet finale.
This really is great value 2 hours of adult fun and I have already recommended it to all my friends.
